ZHM is pleased to announce the successful completion of the steel structure subcontracting works for the New Futura residential development in Singapore. Located in the prime Orchard Road district, this iconic development consists of two 36-story towers known for their distinctive curvilinear architecture.
Our scope of work encompassed the full lifecycle of the curtain wall steel structure, from detailed design and fabrication to on-site installation and final debugging. The project required the processing and installation of approximately 878 tons of structural steel, serving as the critical skeletal support for the building's complex, fluid facade.
Technical Challenges and Engineering Solutions
The New Futura design, characterized by continuous arcs and flowing lines, presented specific engineering challenges that required precise technical execution.
▷2. High-Precision Fabrication: To support the seamless exterior cladding, the tolerance for the steel skeleton was extremely tight. We implemented strict QA/QC protocols during the fabrication phase, ensuring that the 878 tons of steel components fit perfectly upon arrival at the Singapore site, minimizing on-site rework.
▷3. Structural Integrity & Wind Load: As a high-rise structure in a coastal environment, the steel system was designed to withstand significant wind loads while maintaining the flexibility required for the building's unique aesthetic.
Project Execution: From Fabrication to Installation
ZHM adopted a streamlined management approach to deliver this overseas project efficiently:
▷Prefabrication: The majority of the steel structure was prefabricated and trial-assembled in our controlled facility. This "design for manufacture and assembly" (DfMA) approach significantly reduced installation time on the high-rise site.
▷Installation & Debugging: Our technical team supervised the lifting and positioning of the steel framework, ensuring verticality and alignment met the stringent standards required for the subsequent glass and cladding installation.
