The project adheres to international engineering standards and combines local meteorological and geological conditions to achieve a perfect integration of technical rationality and practical applicability.
The project’s 10kV single circuit overhead line is designed with strict consideration of the local environmental conditions to ensure long-term stable operation. The meteorological conditions along the line route are clearly defined: the design wind speed reaches 25m/s, and the conductor icing thickness is 10mm, which ensures the line’s resistance to harsh weather such as strong winds and icing. The soil along the route is hard clay, and we have adopted targeted foundation design to enhance the stability of the transmission poles, laying a solid foundation for the safe operation of the entire line.
In terms of core technical parameters, the project selects high-quality LGJ-70 steel-cored aluminum conductor, which has excellent electrical conductivity and mechanical strength, with a safety factor k=3.5 to fully meet the requirements of long-term safe operation. The representative span of the line is 80m, and the pole height is uniformly set to 10m, with the distance from the crossarm to the top phase being 0.5m, which is scientifically designed to ensure reasonable conductor spacing and safe insulation distance, effectively avoiding line faults caused by insufficient spacing.
The line route is scientifically planned, with a total of 11 transmission poles, covering various types of poles to adapt to different sections of the route: Pole No.1 is Terminal Deadend Pole V (D5), Pole No.2 and No.3 are OverCrossing Pole I (K1), Pole No.4 is Straight Angle Pole I (ZJ1), Pole No.5 is Straight Angle Pole II (ZJ2), Pole No.6 and No.8 are Straight Pole (Z1), Pole No.7 is Tension Angle Strain Pole I (NJ1), Pole No.9 is Tension Angle Strain Pole II (NJ2), Pole No.10 is Terminal Deadend Pole I (D1), and Pole No.11 is Disconnect Switch Pole I (GK2). Each type of pole is reasonably arranged according to the route characteristics, ensuring the smoothness and stability of the line.
It is worth noting that the outgoing line of the currently operating substation adopts cable conductor mode, while the planned (designed) substation incoming line adopts overhead mode. This design fully combines the existing power infrastructure, realizes the seamless connection between the new overhead line and the existing power system, reduces construction costs, and improves the efficiency of power transmission. The pole drawings and hardware configurations involved in the project are dedicated to concrete poles, which are for the construction conception of the on-site installation team. The on-site installation team can flexibly modify the drawings according to the actual site conditions and available materials to ensure the smooth progress of the construction.
The project strictly follows international power engineering standards and Ghana’s local construction norms, integrating advanced design concepts and mature construction technologies. From conductor selection, pole design to foundation construction, every link is subject to strict quality control to ensure that the project meets the requirements of safety, reliability, and durability. This 10kV single circuit overhead transmission line will effectively improve the local power supply capacity, solve the problem of insufficient power transmission, and lay a solid foundation for the economic and social development of Ghana.
